A Letter From The
President, Michael S. Pann
 Pann
Home Services was born through the
Robert L. Pann Company. It began its
roots many years before it actually
performed its first billable job. In
truth, the Robert L. Pann Co, really
started back in the Russian Ukraine
with my grandfather Maurice Pann. My
understanding is that Maurice was a
junk man in Russia. When he was in
his twenties or thirties he migrated
to England and there he took the bar
exam and then purchased a ticket for
the Titanic. Fortunately for my
family and I Maurice was unable to
board the Titanic due to the ship
being overbooked.
Later he made his way to America,
landing on Ellis Island, where our
family name is recorded. He
continued working in the junk
business and related plumbing
industry. Sadly Maurice died at the
early age of forty leaving my father
Bob Pann , his two sisters, and
their mother to survive on their
own.
My dad went on to attend, Boston
Trade High School where he studied
plumbing. However, his time at
Boston Trade was interrupted by the
star of World War II. Prior to
finishing school he put his studies
on hold and volunteered to serve.
Upon discharge Bob was worked for
various plumbing companies and in
the early 1950’s he started his own
company.
In 1953 the company became a
Corporation. We began operating
strictly as a residential plumbing
and heating company. Over time the
company grew in size from a one man,
to a two-man operation then to a
seven man operation, and then to a
seven –man operation. Beginning at
the age of seven, I spent all my
school vacations and Saturdays at
work with my father. I joined the
company in 1971.
My
plumbing education also began at
Boston Trade where I spent four
years learning about plumbing and
other related subjects. After Boston
Trade I spent one year at Newman
Prep and acquired additional
schooling that would prepare me for
college. My early education led me
to Wentworth Institute where I
earned an Associates Degree in Civil
Engineering.
After a very short period of working
in the engineering field I decided
to become more involved in the
family business. I acquired my
journeyman and master plumbers’
license, sprinkler license, master
pipe fitters license, construction
supervisors license, and license for
home remodeling.
 During
my first ten years with the company,
my dad had health issues which
forced him to take a back seat with
the daily operations of the company.
This became my introduction into
running a plumbing and heating
business. With the help of a
dedicated staff and the support of
my mother, the company continued to
develop and grow.
The Company transformed in many ways
during the time of 1971 and 1994. We
expanded our services to include a
general contracting performing
bathroom and kitchen renovations,
and many more various assorted
services such as electrical,
carpentry, and air conditioning. All
this work was performed by outside
contractors.
On July of 1995, I took complete
ownership of the company. Over the
next three and a half years we began
to change the way we do business.
First we joined Contractors 2000,
which later became Nexstar, a trade
group dedicated to produce
professional tradesmen and bring
professionalism to our industry. I
determined it was time for us to no
longer outsource or use
subcontracting for our general
contracting services. I am happy to
say we now have our own carpentry,
remodeling,
electrical division,
HVAC division, and of course our
award winning plumbing and
heating division which started
it all.
Our staff has grown to include a
chief financial officer, HVAC and
carpentry manager, two plumbing
managers, one electrical manager,
customer care manager, ware house
manager, and the best office and
field professional’s that any owner
could wish for. I am very proud of
the staff that makes up Pann Home
Services today.
The various services of our company
have at their core the safety and
comfort of your family. We are a
family company and throughout our
long history we have became a family
of professional employees dedicated
to the families we serve. Thousands
of satisfied customers in our Pann
family return to us over and over
again.
Recently we have changed our name to
Pann Home Services, reflecting the
diverse services that we offer. We
say at Pann Home Services that we
are like an extension of your home’s
insurance policy. When problems
arise we are available around the
clock to provide peace of mind. We

dentist, pediatrician, and
